This particular document is similar to an earlier edict issued in relation to Kuratsuki, in which the local daikan, in this case Konoe Masaie, had made a request to the Bakufu to aid in making the peasants of Yasue shōen pay their tithes, which they were refusing to do. However the following records show that in the previous year the peasants of Yasue had paid half of their tithe, so they might have been withholding their tithes for 1486 out of protest. At any rate, the Bakufu had once again addressed to the Honganji temples of Shōkōji and Honsenji, quite obviously the true powerholders in Ishikawa gun. Their assistance was obviously considered vital if the business of shōen administration was to continue, hence the requests.
